sidebop texts

Useful texts.
Only when you ask.

sidebop gives signed-in users a separate, optional choice to receive reminders for saved events and alerts about new events in geographic rings they choose.

Actual app evidence

The complete opt-in path

These four screenshots are captured from the current sidebop iOS build. They show that recurring SMS starts off, can be declined without affecting sidebop access, and changes only after a separate affirmative choice. This webpage documents the flow; preferences can be changed only inside the signed-in app.

Disclosure shown in step 2

By tapping ‘Agree & turn on,’ you agree to receive recurring automated text alerts from sidebop about saved events and geographic rings you choose. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Consent is not required to create an account, connect your phone, make a purchase, or use sidebop.

The flow

One number. Two separate choices.

  1. Verify for account access

sidebop may send a one-time code after a person provides a supported US mobile number. The app says: “sidebop will text this number a one-time verification code. Message and data rates may apply.”

That code is authentication only. Requesting it does not opt anyone into recurring sidebop texts.

  2. Choose texts separately

Recurring texts are off by default. A signed-in user opens Profile, chooses sidebop texts, reviews the disclosure shown above, and must select Agree & turn on before the preference changes. Selecting Not now leaves SMS off and does not restrict the account.

  3. Change your mind anytime

Turn sidebop texts off in Profile or reply STOP. Reply HELP for help. Stopping recurring texts does not delete the account, unlink the phone number, prevent a separately requested login code, or remove account access.

What may arrive

Bound to choices you already made

SMS sending remains disabled while carrier registration is pending. Once launched, sidebop texts will be limited to these disclosed event updates and only for users who enabled them. sidebop will not treat phone verification as permission for recurring messages.

An event you saved is approaching

A practical reminder tied to an event the user explicitly saved.

A new event was added to a ring you chose

An alert tied to a geographic ring the user explicitly selected.

Not required
